Educator walkthrough Q&A

Seven questions educators ask before they sign up — from your first log in to a running cohort you can track, update, and export. No account needed to read this.

Questions and answers

  1. 1

    Step 1

How do I log in as an educator?

Open the sign-in screen and choose the Educator role so you land on the educator side of MoneyIRL instead of the student app.

    • Pick Educator / Admin when you create your account.
    • Use Google or Apple sign-in, or email and password.
    • Tick Remember me on a device you own so you stay signed in.
    Go to sign in
  2. 2

    Step 2

What happens after I create my educator account?

The 4-step educator onboarding captures who you are, who you teach, and what your program focuses on.

    • Your name, organization, and organization type.
    • Audience and rough student count.
    • Program length and focus areas (budgeting, credit, saving, and more).
  3. 3

    Step 3

How do I create my first cohort?

A cohort is one class, group, or program run. Name it something you will recognize later, such as “Fall 2026 · Period 3”.

    • During setup, name your first cohort on the program step.
    • Later, add more cohorts from Admin → Cohorts using Add cohort.
    • Remove a cohort you no longer need with the delete control in the list.
  4. 4

    Step 4

How do students join my cohort?

The last onboarding step generates a class invitation code. Students enter it when they sign up, and they join your cohort automatically.

    • Share the class invitation code in class or through your LMS.
    • Other options: email invitations, CSV roster upload, or an LMS link.
    • Students then complete onboarding and the Financial Readiness Assessment.
  5. 5

    Step 5

What will I see on the cohort dashboard?

The educator dashboard shows readiness improvement, completion, and category gaps so you can plan the next session.

    • Filter by cohort to compare groups.
    • Assign an activity with a due date from the assignment panel.
    • Read category gaps as patterns for the room, not verdicts on individuals.
  6. 6

    Step 6

How do I manage students day to day?

Student status keeps your roster honest, and everything can be exported for your own records.

    • Change a student's status: Active, At risk, Inactive, or Complete.
    • Delete a student from Admin — you get a short Undo window if it was a mistake.
    • Export CSV / Excel from the dashboard for gradebooks and reporting.
  7. 7

    Step 7

How do I prepare to facilitate a session?

Before class, skim the facilitation guides and preview what students will see.

    • Facilitation guides cover non-shaming tone and reading cohort insights.
    • Student view lets you walk the exact screens your students use.
    • Lesson videos are about two minutes each and work well as a session opener.

Quick answers

Can a student be in more than one cohort?
No. Each student sits in one cohort so reporting stays clean. Move them by changing their cohort on the roster.
What does “At risk” mean?
It is a manual flag you set — usually low activity or a stalled assessment. It never changes what the student sees.
I deleted a student by accident.
Use the Undo banner that appears right after deleting. It stays for a few seconds.
